What breaks when real people use your AI-built app
September 24, 2026
Your app works when you click through it. That's the problem. You know where every button is, you never type a weird email address, and your laptop has a fast connection and a big screen.
Real users don't. Here is what we see most often when an app built with AI tools meets its first strangers.
Sign-up dead ends
The confirmation email goes to spam, the reset link points at the preview site, or the "check your inbox" screen has no way back. People leave and don't come back.
Phones
The layout that looks clean on a laptop pushes the main button below the fold on a phone, or a menu covers the form. Most first visits happen on a phone.
Empty states
A brand-new account sees a blank dashboard with no hint of what to do first. You never see this screen because your account is full of test data.
Payments that half work
Checkout opens, the card goes through, but the app never unlocks the thing they paid for because the webhook isn't set up on the live site.
Slow first load
Big images and extra scripts that don't matter on your connection make the first screen take seconds on mobile data.
None of these are hard to fix. They're just hard to see from the inside.
